Expected Knowledge
While there are no formal prerequisites for the CCIE exam, it is expected that students beginning their CCIE Routing & Switching study, and therefore beginning this course, will have at least a CCNP Routing & Switching level of knowledge. This includes a general knowledge of topics such as: IP networking principles, LAN switching, IGP & BGP routing, DMVPN, infrastructure security, and infrastructure services. It is also recommended that students have 3-5 years of work experience in the networking field.
