eJPT Topics and Skills Covered
The eLearnSecurity Junior Penetration Tester certification is designed to test your understanding of novice level penetration testing tasks, as well as your ability to execute them. The eJPT goes beyond simple recall and challenges you to solve real-word problems that you will experience in the field through our interactive exam and browser-based lab environment. The eJPT is designed to be a hands-on, open book, entry level penetration testing certification that emphasizes the use of skill. Our exam is methodological, providing you with practical knowledge and context, reducing your reliance on specific tools. The eJPT exam consists of 35 questions pertaining to assessment methodologies, host and network penetration testing, host and network auditing, and web application penetration testing. You will have 48 hours to complete the exam. All exam questions are based on your observations in the test’s lab environment and include dynamic and static flag injections. In order to pass this exam, you must receive an overall exam score of at least 70% and must meet pre-determined minimum score requirements in each domain section. Each domain's minimum score is listed in the domain descriptions to the right. We highly recommend taking advantage of each of the practice lab opportunities in the Penetration Testing Student learning path to hone these skills before taking our exam.
Students will be tested on a variety of penetration testing elements including locating endpoints on a network, identifying open ports and services on a target, extracting company information from public sources, and more. In addition, your ability to gather email addresses from public sources, identify vulnerabilities in services, and evaluate information and criticality or impact of vulnerabilities will be assessed. You must score at least 90% of Assessment Methodologies questions correctly on this exam to pass the eJPT.
Web Application Penetration Testing
To help build strong web application penetration testing knowledge, students will be taught and tested on critical concepts including how to identify vulnerabilities in webapps, locate hidden file and directories, exploit web app vulnerabilities like cross-site scripting and SQL Injection.
