    L3 Multicast with PIM Sparse-Mode

    What about this course?

This course is a followup to the L2 Multicast course and it is assumed that one has either completed that course, or has learned of the relevant content through some other means. This course begins with a brief overview of how Multicast is used in data networks and then follows with a brief recap of IGMP and MLDP. From there, we jump into in-depth details of PIM (Protocol Independent Multicast) Sparse-Mode by covering such topics as the PIM state machine, message types used by PIM, details of the PIM Registration process, the usage of PIM Designated Routers and Designated Forwarders, and much more. The course concludes with details of how to implement dynamic PIM RP discovery in your network by using either Auto-RP or the PIM-BSR features.
