Purpose: Google Cloud Platform, offered by Google, is a suite of cloud computing services that runs on the same infrastructure that Google uses internally for its end-user products, such as Google Search, Gmail, Google Drive, and YouTube. In this article, you will learn how to create a Storage Bucket using a GCP Console.

We have set up the below scenario in our INE labs for our students to practice. The screenshots have been taken from our online lab environment.
In this lab, you will learn how to create a storage bucket on the Google Cloud Platform and upload objects to it using the GCP console.
Step 1: To start the lab, Choose the Start lab button and then choose Open lab. On the next page, a new tab will open up, showing the terms and conditions for the lab. Go through them thoroughly, agree to the terms and conditions, and select Continue.
You will be presented with access credentials to the GCP lab account, as shown in the following example. Open the GCP Portal Login link in a new private or Incognito window.
Step 2: The URL will take you to a GCP login page. To log in, you need to use the access credentials provided to you.
Step 3: After successfully entering the username and password, you will be logged into the GCP console. Now, a window will pop up asking you to enter your country. Check the Terms of Service checkbox and click on AGREE AND CONTINUE. (Make sure your country is correct)
Creating a storage bucket
Step 4: Initially, you will be present on the homepage of the Google Cloud console. To start creating a storage bucket, go to the Cloud Storage option on the left and select the browser option.
Step 5: You will be redirected to the new browser window. There you will find the option 'Create Bucket'. Click on that.
Step 6: On the Create a bucket page, you will need to enter the bucket information.
Step 7: After filling in all the information, click on Create option, and your storage bucket will be created.
Step 8: One of the benefits of creating a storage bucket in GCP is that you can easily upload objects to it. First, if you have created multiple buckets, select the name of the bucket to which you want to upload the objects in the list of buckets.
Step 9: You can upload the objects using two different methods. In the Objects tab for the bucket, either:
You can drag and drop the desired files from your desktop or file manager directly to the main window in the console.
You can also click on the Upload Files button, select the files you want to upload in the tab that appears, and click on the Open option.
Voila! We successfully created a storage bucket on GCP and uploaded objects to it via the GCP console.
