Cisco Live 2020 - Recap
Cisco Live 2020 still took place this year, entirely online. While the COVID-19 pandemic made an in-person event impossible, Cisco still made the most of a full 2 days of sessions (rather than the usual 5). Even better, all the sessions can now be found in on-demand format, to be revisited or discovered anytime.
The live broadcast began with an inspiring speech by Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins. It then split into four "channels":- The Possibilities Channel
- The Innovation Channel
- The IT Heroes Channel
- The IT Leadership Channel
I spent most of my time on the IT Heroes Channel, as it seemed to contain the most technical content.
Cisco introduced some exciting new technology during these sessions, including:
- SecureX Security Management Platform
- Nexus Dashboard for Data Center Management
- Cisco 8000 Series Router for Service Providers - this promises Bandwidth up to 259.2 Tbps in its maxed out configuration of 400GigE ports.
A couple of notable sessions I enjoyed watching were Multicloud Networking for ACI and NX-OS Enabled Data Center Fabrics, led by Lukas Krattiger and Massimiliano Ardica, and Unleashing Innovation with 5G and Wi-Fi 6 by Robert Everson.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much time for deep technical sessions. Very few sessions were accepted for the live broadcast in comparison to those that were slated for the usual, in-person conference.
However, there are currently over 275 sessions available in the Cisco Live 2020 on-demand library. They can all be seen for free with a Cisco.com account. Once my fellow technical instructors and I have time to review these videos, we'll compile a "Best of Cisco Live 2020" list for you that can also be ideally and easily paired with our existing Learning Paths.
Cisco Live 2021 is slated for Las Vegas on June 6th-10th, 2021. Let's hope we all get to see each other there in person!
