In this tour de force on Cisco’s Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) for the Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) candidate we will cover the basics of EIGRP configuration and adjacencies, message types, timers and timer manipulation, distance vector traits and characteristics, EIGRP in an MPLS L3 VPN as the Provider Edge (PE)-to-Customer Edge(CE) protocol, the EIGRP topology and neighbor tables, different EIGRP packet types, composite metric calculation, L3 traffic engineering with EIGRP, the EIGRP stub feature, leak maps, summarization, EIGRP wide metrics, Feasibility Condition (FC), queries, Stuck in Active (SIA), Feasible Successor (FS), Feasible Distance (FD), Computed Distance (CD), Reported Distance (RD), Equal and Unequal Cost Load Balancing, EIGRPv6, EIGRP Named Mode, redistribution semantics, native and dotted-decimal route tagging, extensive use of Wireshark for packet capture and analysis, EIGRP neighbor authentication methods, unicast neighbor adjacencies, common troubleshooting scenarios, and a detailed look at the EIGRP RFC 7868.
